Rafiya is an 11-year-old girl living in the slums of Qureshi Nagar with her parents, siblings, and grandparents. Her father, once a scrap collector, is now unable to work due to a severe battle with cancer, leaving the family without an income. Her mother is a homemaker, struggling to manage the household amidst these trying circumstances.

Rafiya’s family belongs to the economically weaker section of society, facing daily hardships that stem from their poverty. With her father unable to work, the family is struggling to make ends meet, let alone afford basic educational necessities like textbooks and school supplies. Despite these daunting challenges, Rafiya is a bright and determined student, who remains committed to her education and dreams of building a better future for herself and her family.

Rafiya recently passed her 4th standard with distinction and is eager to continue her education by enrolling in the 5th standard at her school. However, due to her father’s illness and the mounting financial burdens, the family has reluctantly decided to withdraw her from school. The crushing reality of having no income and overwhelming expenses has left them with no choice.

When Rafiya, heartbroken, informed her class teacher of her family’s decision, the school immediately stepped in to offer support. The school administration met with her parents for counseling and after thoroughly understanding the situation, they committed to finding a way to support Rafiya’s education.
